A beautiful discovery: Wallonia, in the south of Belgium
That Belgium is already world famous for chocolate, waffles, fries, beers and other wonders, we all know. A highlight, not well known in Brazil, is the regional. Wanting to expand the panorama and the Belgian tourist scene, Wallonia - the southern part that speaks french and which borders France, deserves to be rediscovered. To give you a taste of what we can find there, some destinations deserve to be promoted.
Wallonia is a region with preserved nature, castles and fortresses, and industrial zones recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For its beautiful geographies, hills, forests, caves, lakes and rivers, it is an ideal place to enjoy different outdoor sports: kayaking, cycling, golf, sailing, caving and climbing. By the way, not forgetting the delicious culinary traditions that also enliven a stay there, Wallonia has abbey cheeses and beers waiting to be tasted by the curious who want to discover the Walloon know-how. Namur
The capital of Wallonia was once known as the City of the Burghers, since there, in addition to so many beauties, people lived very well. Namur is one of many fortified cities in Belgium, as it is surrounded by one of the largest ancient fortresses in Europe.
Waterloo
It was at Waterloo, located near Brussels, that Napoleon Bonaparte lost a great battle and was banished from Europe. Around the pyramid there is the 1815 Memorial, an excellent option for families.
Spa
Famous for its healing thermal water treatments since the 14th century, it became a tourist attraction in the 18th century. It is home to the first casino in the world, built in 1763. It hosts Formula 1 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, always at the end of August.
Dinant
Without a doubt this city looks like it came out of a fairy tale. Dinant lies along the Meuse River. The Caves of Han and the Cave of Dinant are some of the natural attractions. The landmarks of the city are: the Citadel, the reference to Adolph Sax, inventor of the Saxophone, and the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame!
Liège
As the largest French-speaking city in Belgium, visitors will find a lot of architecture, culture and attractions. It is at the same time a modern city. Between July and August, the city is abuzz with festivals along the Meuse. The city is also home to the famous Liege waffle, smaller than the Brussels waffle.
