The kind of man who is always restless. In a review written on the website of the late Chicago Sun-Times critic’s website, Roger Ebert, Brian Tallerico, current editor of the page, refers to American actor Bradley Cooper and his latest film endeavor, A Star Is Born (USA, 2018), film that marks his directorial debut, pointing to his achievement as “one of the best works of his career”, showing an excellent performance of his singing skills, in addition to the chemistry with Lady Gaga, also a newcomer in the universe of cinema.
In one of the highlights of the feature film, Cooper’s character (the singer Jackson Maine) advises Ally, who lives a rising star (played by Gaga): “If it doesn’t come from the bottom of your soul, it will not last long time. If you don’t tell the truth, you’re screwed. “
The statement holds a valuable teaching on the need to undertake with purpose, to explore the best of oneself in all situations. In parallel, in real life, Cooper advised himself: in the artwork, he acted, undertook the direction, script and production. However, directing a movie was already an old desire, although he feared he would not succeed in his project and declare that if he did, he would end his career as a filmmaker.
Thanks to his obstinacy, the film was acclaimed by film critics, collecting nominations and awards around the world, including eight 2019 Oscar nominations, in which won in one of the categories: Best Original Song (with Shallow).
Nevertheless, Cooper faced various resistance to achieve his goal. Many opposed to collaborate because of this being the third remake of a musical drama of 1937, originally starring actors Janet Gaynor and Fredric March.
The second version of the film (of 1954) was starred by Judy Garland and James Mason. The award for best original song comes from the partnership of Cooper and Gaga who produced most part of the film’s soundtrack.
The release of the 34-track album, which included nineteen original songs, coincided with the film’s debut and was an enormous hit with critics. For the newspaper ‘The Guardian’, Bean Beaumont-Thomas has scored eighty points on a scale that goes up to 100 for A Star Is Born track. “Cooper shows that he can sing as much as he can perform and direct, but Gaga’s pop prowess raises every song on the album.” Cooper outlines his rockstar in admirable lines: drunk and judiciously blues,” he noted.
The commercial success of the album reached number one in the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom, as Shallow, the album’s single released in September last year, topped the charts in Australia, the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
In the business world, the award-winning actor has attracted the interest of luxury brands for partnerships, among them, the prestigious Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen.
The most recent campaign promoted by the company and clicked by photographer Marco Grob, brings Cooper in action on two wheels based on a vintage airplane where the actor uses one of the most iconic models of the brand, Big Pilot Edition “Le Petit Prince”, which composes the collection in honor of the writer, poet and aviation pilot Antoine de Saint- Exupéry.
In addition to the business, Cooper has already declared himself a fan of the brand for years and said to have an old and emotional relationship with the line of items manufactured by the company. Four times nominated for an Oscar, the actor is also the newest ambassador of the brand founded 150 years ago.

He made several television series, presented travel programs, made his film debut in 2001 with the film Wet Hot American Summer, but it was in 2005 after his performance in the movie Wedding Crashers, a romantic comedy that has gathered positive reviews by expert critics, that he had his first leading role in Hollywood. In 2009, another film work has garnered many accolades and recognition.
The Hangover grossed U$44 million at the box office alone, while around the world, that number reached U$467 million, enshrining its stardom and critical acclaim for his resourcefulness in comedic performances.
One of the critics of The New York Times, A.O. Scott, commented: “Mr. Cooper offers the most interesting variation of an old standard, playing an aggressive and arrogant frat boy [a young man who behaves in a turbulent or foolish way, considered typical of the members of some university fraternities] with a growl of anger that masks an anxiety so difficult to explain. “ Since then, many other titles have joined his gallery of hits, including: Valentine’s Day (2010); Silver Linings Playbook (2012), for which he received his first Oscar nomination; American Hustle (2013); Guardians of the Galaxy (2014); American Sniper (2014); and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
The artist has been supporting organizations working in the fight against lung cancer since the death of his father in 2011 and has joined some institutions that aims to care for people facing the disease. Between 2013 and 2015, Cooper was one of the highest paid actors in the world, receiving in the period 28, 46 and 41.5 million dollars, respectively.
